Another increase of 18% authorized for air transportation costs
A little more than a month after the last adjustment granted to improve local companies’ incomes, the government decided to authorize another increase of 18%, on average, for air transportation fees.

LAN adds frequencies to Rio Negro in July and August

LAN announced that in winter it will add frequencies on the route to San Carlos de Bariloche, operating up to seven daily flights from the Jorge Newbery Airport.

Iberia about to return
Iberia may be about to resume operating out of Paraguay, since the negotiations with Dinac are at such an advanced stage, said the assistant director of international operations in the plenary framework of the Foro de Conectividad (Connectivity Forum), adding that Iberia would be expanding one of the services which it offers from a point in South America in Paraguay.

Beginning in July, TAM will operate new air route with Cuba

As of July a new air route will be opened between Sao Paulo and Havana through an operation led by the tour operator Sanchat Tour and TAM, in collaboration with Havanatur.

Luxury train began operations
Great Brasil Express, the first luxury train in the country, began operations this week on the route from Rio de Janeiro to Iguazu Falls. The package includes air, ground and railway transport, as well as accommodation and meals. The service will be offered until the end of the year with set departures.

Website launched to market touristic offer

The increase in the demand from the European business sector for direct flights to Peru could encourage the entry of new airlines into the country, LAP stated. The pressure asserted by German, English and French businesspeople on the airlines to establish direct flights with Peru could result in a greater amount of direct connections between the these countries.

Expansion of passenger terminal at Jorge Chavez airport will be inaugurated in November
In the first half of November, LAP will inaugurate the expansion of the passenger terminal in the Jorge Chavez International Airport with an investment of US$ 42 million.
Star Peru suspends flights definitively to Chiclayo and Trujillo

US$ 570 thousand investment to rehabilitate Quito-Duran train
The Ministry of Tourism will contribute US$ 570,000 this year for the rehabilitation of the Ecuadorian Railway Network on the Quito-Duran route. Among its priorities, the government established the rehabilitation of the Ecuadorian Railway Network as a necessity, thus intensifying the works on the Quito-Latacunga leg, which will be inaugurated on June 25th.

Easyfly to have hub in Medellin

In six months of operations, the company has opened seven routes from Bogota, with destinations to Arauca, Armenia, Ibague, Neiva, Yopal, Cartago and Barrancabermejia. Easyfly would open routes from Medellin to Apartado, Monteria, Pereira, Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja.

Negotiating more flights to Liberia
The Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (Costa Rican Tourism institute, ICT) is negotiating the arrival of more direct flights from Europe to the Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste. The Minister of Tourism confirmed that for this purpose, he is in talks with the main airlines of the European markets (Germany, Spain, England and France), for the country. Only First Choice airline flies directly from London to Liberia once a week.

Nikki Beach will invest US$ 200 million in hotel for celebrities

The international hotel chain Nikki Beach will invest US$ 200 million in the construction of a hotel “for celebrities” on the island of Roatan, in the Honduran Caribbean. The hotel “will not only be five-star, but also luxurious for celebrities.”

Aeromexico to fly to Tegucigalpa
Aeromexico will expand its services to Tegucigalpa. Its figures reveal that 42% of passengers that board planes at the Ramon Villeda Morales airport in San Ramon Sula (Honduras) are from the capital.

Revisions will be intensified

As of Friday, international passengers arriving in the country by air from Central and South America, but who take connecting flights to reach their final destination in Mexico or abroad, will have to submit their hand luggage and documentation to an additional revision to the one undergone at the airport of origin.

New routes opened from airport
