| Foreign tourism
increased by 9.7% in January
|
| The number
of foreign tourists who entered
the country increased by 9.7%
in January, with 259,265 tourists
arriving and 112,034 leaving
the country. The total movement
of tourists involved 10.2% more
people than in January of 2007.
The average stay was 16.9 days
and average expenditures were
US$ 81.6. |

The investment
group led by the Argentine developer
bought a 47.5 hectare plot of
land on the shore of Lake Perito
Moreno for US$ 14.5 million,
where a 140 room luxury hotel
will be constructed with an
investment of US$ 70 million.

winter services |
| This winter, Air
Canada will expand its services
to principal South American destinations
with the introduction of non-stop
flights to Buenos Aires and Santiago,
as well as the employment of a
Boeing 777-300ER on its daily
flights to Sao Paulo. The flights
to Buenos Aires and Santiago will
begin on December 1st, and end
on April 1st, 2009, with five
weekly frequencies. |

to Mendoza |
| With a new daily
frequency to Buenos Aires, LAN
reinforces its presence in Mendoza.
Currently, the three daily flights
place the province as the fourth
most serviced destination by the
airline, after Iguazu, Bariloche
and Cordoba. |

the most modern fleet in South

| The first
of the seven aircraft which
Pluna purchased arrived at the
Carrasco International Airport.
In January 2009, Pluna will
receive the seventh aircraft,
thus becoming the airline with
the most modern fleet in South
America. The investment for
the purchase of these aircraft
is US$ 177 million. |
| Construction authorized
for ecological hotel on Gorriti
Island |
| The Ministry of
Tourism authorized the construction
of a luxury “ecological
hotel” on Gorriti Island,
opposite Punta del Este, the country’s
main beach resort. The project
will cost US$ 10 million. The
hotel will have only 30 rooms
and will operate on solar energy.
Its water supply will come from
wells on the island. |

double in number in 2008 |
| After the
country’s aerial seclusion,
there are possibilities of significantly
expanding the offer of flights
due to the return of Pluna,
the beginning of operations
of the Aerorregional Paraguay
and Aerosur Paraguay companies,
as well as the arrival of Avianca,
Copa and Taca. Likewise, TAM
plans on expanding its connections,
as indicated by the deputy director
of International Air Traffic

| Gol modernizes
its fleet with 40 Boeing aircraft
|
| GOL announced
that it increased its orders
from Boeing by 40 aircraft and
that it will put a plan into
action to accelerate the modernization
and renewal of its fleet. The
airline signed a new contract
with expected deliveries of
between 2012 and 2014, bringing
its total amount of orders to
161 pieces of equipment. |

approximately 400 international
operators |
| The 17th Brasil
National Tourism Mart will be
held from April 10th to the 13th
in Salvador (Bahia). 9,000 business
meetings are planned, with the
expectation of generating US$
186 million, 32.3% more than last
year. |

| LAB registers
another aircraft to resume flights |
| Last week,
LAB received the airworthiness
certificate for a Boeing 727-200
with which it hopes to resume
operations before the end of
this month. At first, LAB would
operate with this Boeing 727
and gradually incorporate new
aircraft into its fleet, until
all six with which it intends
to fly as of next June are incorporated. |

flights to Cusco |
| Last week Aerosur
began to fly two weekly flights
to Cusco from Santa Cruz de la
Sierra. |

| Lima would
receive more than 2.7 million
tourists in 2012 |
As a result
of new investments in the hotel
industry and strategies to promote
Peru abroad, Lima would receive
approximately 2,723,000 tourists
in 2012, an increase of 91%
with respect to last year, when
it received 1,425,000 visitors,
the CCL indicated. They added
that there are 54 new hotel
construction projects and 17
more for redesigning and expanding
those already existing throughout
the country. These projects
would be carried out in the
medium term, with an investment
of US$ 500 million. |
| Radisson Hotels
open their doors |
| The Radisson Hotel
chain began operations in the
country with its two new hotels
in which it invested more than
US$ 11 million. The Radisson Hotel
& Suites in San Isidro has
a five-star rating, while the
Radisson Decapolis in Miraflores
has four stars. With both hotels,
the country hopes to improve its
hotel offer and secure the commitment
for the development of new projects
in the local market with Nuevo
Mundo and the international chain
Decameron. |
| Aqua Expeditions
media Launch in New York |
| On March 11th,
Aqua Expeditions celebrated the
launch to the US specialized media
at Per Se, known as the best restaurant
in the city. They introduced their
new luxury vessel navigating the
Amazon in conjunction with Inkaterra,
who were presenting their new
properties in Cusco and Lake Titicaca.

months of 2008, signifying an
increase of 9.14% compared to
