Hilton Hotel to be inaugurated in 2009

More than 45 million pesos will be invested in the 5-star Hilton Hotel. It will have 167 rooms overlooking the coast of the Iguazu river and will cover 600 hectares, and will also have an 18 hole golf course.

TAM to operate direct flights between San Pablo and Bariloche

TAM will begin operating in Rio Negro, and will make direct flights every Thursday and Sunday between San Pablo and San Carlos de Bariloche.

Copa Airlines to fly to Belo Horizonte

Copa Airlines announced the start of its new direct flight from Panama and hub cities from the American continent to Belo Horizonte beginning August 21. Belo Horizonte will be the airline’s 42nd destination and its fourth in Brasil, where Copa also offers flights to Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Manaus.

Gol waives ski and snowboard transportation fee for winter season

During the winter season from June 15 to August 15, Gol passengers will be able to transport a pair of skis or a snowboard without paying an extra fee. These materials will be included in the luggage allowance, which is 23 kg per passenger for domestic or international flights. Beginning with the second pair of skis or the second snowboard, $50.00 will be charged per item. The fee exoneration will be valid for all of Gol’s national and international flights.

Chain Rio Sagrado to open 5-star resort at Cusco

The Peruvian owned company Rio Sagrado will open a 5-star resort in October, which will be located on the shore of the Urubamba River, 4 km from the province of the same name. Situated on an area of 20,000 m2, it will have 21 rooms, 2 villas, a restaurant, a bar, and a spa with an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi.

Museum of Contemporary Art to be build near Sacsayhuaman

The Archaeologists’ Association began the archaeological prospecting of the site where the future museum of the Instituto Americano de Arte (American Institute of Art, IAA) will be built. The museum will be located on an area adjacent to the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, and will be dedicated to contemporary Cusquenan art.

Taca to dynamize the market with the inauguration of new routes

Taca inaugurated three new direct flights to Medellin (Colombia), Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) and Guatemala, consolidating and expanding the connectivity of its hub in Lima with South and Central America. With these three new destinations, it makes 11 additional weekly frequencies available to its passengers leaving from Lima.

Cielos Andinos opens second route

Cielos Andinos, a company which has regularly operated the Lima-Andahuaylas-Ayacucho-Lima route since 2007, has just inaugurated its first regular flight to Trujillo. Cielos Andinos has flown 3 weekly frequencies on the Lima-Chimbote-Trujillo-Lima route since last week. The flights are made in Antonov 24 aircraft for 48 passengers. It currently has two airplanes. One is used for regular passenger flights, and the other for charter flights. The company has used this inaugural flight to launch its website, where they will serve their passengers.

Orient Express inaugurates exclusive “Las Casitas del Colca” hotel

The exclusive “Las Casitas del Colca” hotel was recently inaugurated. Built with US$ 7 million, it has 20 “casitas” (cabins) with all the commodities of a 5-star hotel. “Las Casitas del Colca” is built on 24 hectares in a privileged region of Colca. It has a spa of more than 600 m2 located almost on the shore of the river, where visitors can receive any type of treatment.

SBA Airlines increases frequency of Caracas-Miami flights

SBA Airlines began a second frequency on the Caracas-Miami route, an opening which will provide passengers with two daily flight options for this destination. The first flight from Caracas will take off at 6:00 am and the second at 3:30 pm, while from Miami passengers will be able to board at 11:15 am and at 8:45 pm.

Oasis to manage three new luxury hotels

Oasis signed an agreement with Harlequin Hotels which will allow the Globalia chain to manage three new highly luxurious establishments in the Caribbean: one on San Vicente Island, another in the Dominican Republic and another in Barbados.

Nova Air to fly over Zacatecas

Nova Air will begin operations in Zacatecas on July 24th. They will be charter flights with destinations at Fort Worth, Texas and Mexico. The flight will cost approximately US$ 400 round trip, and will include a two night stay, informed the Secretary of Tourism, Rafael Flores Mendoza.
