International Tourism Fair 2007

This year, the International Tourism Fair 2007 –FIT- will open its doors in La Rural from November 17th to 20th, with more than 1,800 exhibitors from 50 countries, distributed over an area of 42 000 m2 which in this opportunity will be entirely covered.

Aerolineas Argentinas will normalize flights in a month
Aerolineas Argentinas will take at least one month in normalizing its flights, when the several crew members return from the holidays they were forced to take as a result of the controls emitted by the Ministry of Defense.
Sur Lineas Aereas takes flight
Company sources informed that Sur Lineas Aereas, which is still being formed, will begin to fly in 2008, between the Santa Cruz towns of Rio Gallegos and El Calafate, and Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Subsequently, it will add stopovers related to tourism in the Patagonia and the South of Chile.

Pluna adds one frequency between Montevideo and Rio

As it informed in September, Pluna will increase to three its weekly flights between Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro as from December 3rd. It has also announced a fourth frequency starting the 22nd of the same month.

Ocean Air Paraguay will operate as from December

The Paraguayan chancellor announced that a new Paraguayan flag airline, Ocean Air Paraguay, will operate as from December. He stated that it is expected that it will be able to operate with new equipment.

Tourist program “Misiones del Mundo Guarani” was presented
The Paraguayan Touring and Automobile Club (TACPY) and the Tierranuestra Foundation (FTN) began the promotion program of the Turismo de las Misiones en el Mundo Guaraní (Tourism to Missions in Guarani World), to offer tourist products and services related to the cultural and natural patrimony in an organized and sustainable manner.
MITM Americas

MITM, Meetings & Incentive Trade Market, informed that its 5 year-old fair, which was previously held in Las Vegas, was incorporated into its 8 year-old MITM Latin American fair. The first combined fair, now called MITM Americas, will be held in Salvador de Bahia from December 13th to the 15th in the Pestana Hotel. www.mitmamericas.com

TAM increases number of flights from Rio de Janeiro
TAM will increase the number of flights departing from the Tom Jobim International Airport of Rio de Janeiro to Belen, Brasilia, Campinhas, Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Velho and Vitoria. It also announced the beginning of flights from the same airport to Paris and Caracas.
Varig renews flights to Argentina as from today
As from today, Varig resumed its daily flights to Argentina, which had been suspended by the Argentine aeronautical authority a few months ago.
American with new frequencies to Miami
American Airlines began three new frequencies to Miami from Sao Paulo and another five from Rio de Janeiro.
Lan carried out a millionaire aircraft purchase from Boeing

Lan executed a purchase agreement for 26 Boeing 787 Dreamliner, in an operation which reached US$ 4 500 million. LAN will lease another six aircraft as from 2011, having, in addition, purchase options for another ten aircrafts, with which it surpasses the other two Latin American airlines on the request list: Aeromexico and Avianca.

Will invest more than S/. 23 million in Machupicchu

The INC-Cusco will invest a total of S/.23’175,000 in archaeological investigation, restoration works and the value enhancement of the architectural structures and pre Hispanic routes situated in the Archaeological Reserve of Machupicchu. The director of said institution mentioned that the works, which will begin in February, 2008, will last 3 years.

Inkaterra will inaugurate first Peruvian boutique hotel
“La Casona”, the first boutique hotel of the Inkaterra Group, will be inaugurated in Cuzco in January, 2008.
New tourist circuit in Paracas Reserve
The head of the Paracas National Reserve pointed out that the new tourist circuit is 100% operational. The circuit includes the Cathedral, restored after the earthquake of August 15th; the new Interpretation Center, the Peninsula Isthmus, the Viewpoint or Path, with interesting attractions such as the marine fossils sightseeing.
Air Comet opens new frequency to Madrid

The company informed that Air Comet inaugurated a new frequency in its Bogota-Madrid route with an Airbus 340 with a seating capacity for 220 passengers in Economic class and 40 in Executive class.

Air agreement with Paraguay in progress
The governments of Paraguay and Colombia prepare an air transport agreement which will allow them to have direct connections via Ocean Air in the short term, as pointed out by the chancellors of both countries, who met in Asuncion.
Brasil´s largest operator comes in
Brasil’s largest tourist operator, CVC Tourism, will open a branch in Colombia. The company informed that a novelty will be charters for the next season with destinations in Cartagena and San Andres.
Promotes the colonial and religious route of the east of the country

Guatemala, through the Ministry of Culture, launched a cultural tourist plan which includes the churches built in the east of the country during the colonial period, as informed the Central American Tourist Promotion (CATA).

Receives first flight of Interjet
Interjet, the low-cost Mexican airline began operations in Guatemala yesterday. With the arrival of its first flight from Toluca, the airline inaugurates two new daily routes: Toluca-Guatemala-Toluca and Cancun-Guatemala-Cancun.
Donald Trump foresees investing around US$ 350 million in Tulum

The Development director of Donald Trump International/Irongate announced that some plots close to Tulum, Quintana Roo, are under evaluation for the construction of a tourist project with a US$ 200 to 350 million investment, adding that they intend to close the deal regarding the land to start a hotel project under the condohotel segment. Currently, the company has a project called Trump Ocean Resort Baja underway. This is in Rosarito, Baja California, although investing in Los Cabos and Puerto Peñasco is also under study.
