New Terminal of Aerolineas Argentinas in Miami airport

As from last Wednesday, Aerolineas Argentinas operates in the new South Terminal Concourse J of the Miami International Airport.

Taiwan Hotel in Punta del Este

The Taiwan government plans to construct a hotel complex in Punta del Este with a US$ 40 million investment. This complex would be aimed at the accommodation of Taiwanese high income retired citizens.

FITPAR 2007

As from November 9th to the 11th, the Association of Travel Agencies (ASATUR), with the support of the National Secretariat of Tourism (SENATUR) and the Investment and Export Network (REDIEX), will once again bring together the tourist professionals and businessmen in the FITPAR 2007 in Asuncion. This event is aimed at continuing with the efforts to position itself within the calendar and circuit of the world tourism shows.

Next week TAM begins agreement with LAN

The codeshare agreement between TAM and LAN Airlines is in force as from Monday. This will increase the flights options in South America for both airlines, allowing the passengers of LAN to fly to 12 Brazilian cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Florianapolis, Brasilia, Recife, Manaus and Porto Seguro. Likewise, the passengers of TAM can do the same to the Chilean cities operated by LAN.

Cruiser season will attract US$ 133 million to Rio de Janeiro
The cruiser season, which started on last Monday, will bring 445,000 tourists to Rio de Janeiro until May 2008. According to official sources, this will imply a growth of 39%.
Kenya Airways enter South America

Aviareps Airline Management Group is responsible for Kenya Airways in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela as from this month. In Chile, Aviareps has a commercial agreement with Strategic Aviation Planning, SAP Chile S.A, which will work directly with its headquarters for Latin America based in Miami, Florida.

BoA will begin flying in 2008 with a US$ 15 million investment

BoA will begin its operations in the first quarter of 2008, with an initial investment of US$ 15 million. It will offer fares below those which are on the market. The National Director of Air Transport pointed out that the national airline will enter the market in the same conditions in which the private airlines operate.

Credit for tourist projects approved by Congress

The Congress Budget Commission approved a supplementary credit project, which comes to over S/.18 million for the execution and development of tourist projects in different parts of the country.

Hoteles Libertador announced franchise with Starwood Hotels and Worldwide Resorts
Hoteles Libertador announced the signing of a franchise contract with the Starwood Hotels and Worldwide Resorts, Inc. chain, through which it seeks to project its tourist offer abroad, and maximize its presence in the international luxury sector, alongside the company with greatest projection in the world.
Gol looks for a local partner to increase routes
Gol announced that it is looking to make alliances with the Peruvian airlines to increase its routes in the country’s interior. Gol’s commercial director explained that the company’s idea is covering north, center and south of the country alongside one local airline.
Fifth Inca Route

The 5th Inca Route tourist initiative, programmed for July 2008, will bring together dozens of young people who will travel through sites from ancient civilizations. The initiative will depart from Ecuador and will get in the Peruvian Amazon region, and will also visit Machupicchu.

ETM 2008
The International Tourism Show of Ecuador (BITE), the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador and the Mixed Fund for Tourist Promotion will carry out the official presentation of the ECUADOR TRAVEL MART –ETM 2008-, which will take place in Cuenca from April 20th to 23rd. etm2008 www.bite.com.ec
USA Airways wants to fly to the country

The American company is interested in traveling from Charlotte to Bogota. The airline will compete with Jet Blue for the authorization from the US Department of Transportation to operate 21 routes to the country, in accordance with an agreement between the two countries.

Spirit will fly to Fort Lauderdale

As from February 2008, Spirit Airlines will operate a direct flight between Panama City and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The route between Panama and Fort Lauderdale was temporarily operated by US Airways in 2005, but it was suspended that same year.

Air Caraibes will begin daily flights as from December
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that on December 11th, Air Caraibes will begin two direct flights to Panama from Guadalupe and Martinique. Ministry sources pointed out that this route will be carried out twice a week.
Hoteliers interested in business tourism

The director of the First Choice Chain pointed out that the hoteliers have their eye on the business tourism area which is “still unexploited” in Mexico.

AeroMexico begins flight from Los Angeles to Puerto Peñasco
AeroMexico announced that it will open three weekly flights from Los Angeles to Puerto Peñasco, the tourist destination also known as Rocky Point, situated in the Sonora State. The aforementioned flights will be operated by Aeromexico Connect and will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Interjet could purchase up to 25 aircraft for its new routes
The founder of the airline informed that Interjet could purchase up to 25 aircraft to increase its routes to the South of Mexico and several Latin American countries.
AMResorts will duplicate its hotels portfolio in the Caribbean
The AMResorts chain will duplicate its Dreams Resorts & Spas establishment portfolio in the Caribbean during the next years by adding seven new resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. According to the chain, during the next three years, AMResorts will open five Dreams resorts in Mexico: the Dreams Nuevo Vallarta Resort & Spa in mid 2008, Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa at the end of 2008, Dreams Pearl Sands Riviera Cancun at the beginning of 2009, Dreams Punta Mita Resort & Spa at the end of 2009 and the Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa at the beginning of 2010.
US$ 1 000 million investment in Jalisco to reactivate tourism
The State of Jalisco will invest US$ 1 000 million for the tourist development of Costa Alegre, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes and Bahia of Banderas, on the way from Puerto Vallarta to Tuito. The investment includes the creation of the destination Costa Prodiga.
Mall Group will create a tourist complex in Campeche
With an investment of US$ 600 million Mall Group will construct a complex in Campeche, on the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico. This complex will have 3 045 housing facilities, of which 750 will be ready by August 5th, 2008.
Direct flights between Santo Domingo and Curacao established

DAE, Curacao’s domestic airline, began to operate direct flights between Curacao and the Dominican Republic. DAE will carry out two weekly flights during the low season and four in the high season, which will be served by a Fokker 100 with a seating capacity for 100 passengers.
