| Argentina and
Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding
which will allow the establishment
of regular air transportation
services between both countries.
Candidate companies will be Aerolineas
Argentinas, LAN Argentina and
Qatar Airways. |

| Aerosur was authorized
to operate as a Paraguayan airline,

| Iberostar Hotels
& Resorts will invest US$
15 million to make improvements
to the emblematic Iberostar Copacabana
hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Works
will start in August and the investment
will be aimed at the renewal and
modernization of the hotel’s
infrastructures and apartments
previously known as 'Le Meridien'.
The adaptation of the building
to the group standards is also
planned in order to make it a
real five-star hotel. |

to Montevideo |
| TAM will receive
the official authorization to
start regular operations with
a daily frequency between Brasil
and Uruguay. The company will
schedule a flight from San Pablo
to Montevideo within 6 months.

Argentina |
| As of July, BRA
Lineas Aéreas will fly
three times a week from Buenos
Aires to Recife, Fortaleza and
Natal in the Boeing 767 and from
there, will continue its flight
to Europe. |
| Shared code between
Ocean Air and BRA |
| Ocean Air and
BRA entered into a Shared Code
agreement that will be in force
on June 18th. In order to guarantee
the punctuality in the route network,
the airlines will keep three aircrafts
in reserve. As a result of the
code share, the airlines will
have a joint fleet of 27 aircrafts
and 49 destinations, out of which
14 are new. Likewise, five hubs
will be created: Curitiba, Rio
de Janeiro, Cuiaba, Salvador and
Brasilia. |

Speed Train will be constructed
to go to Salar de Uyuni |
| The government
plans to build a high speed train
to unite the capital of Potosi
with Salar de Uyuni. Tourists
will be able to visit Cerro Rico,
the National Mint House and other
local attractions. In just a few
hours, they will be able to visit
Laguna Colorada, Laguna Verde,
Salar de Uyuni and other Potosi
southeastern attractions. |

could operate under "codeshare"

| LAB and AeroSur
could operate under codeshare
in domestic and foreign routes.
Although the agreement is not
entered into yet, LAB plans to
operate again in a 15-day period
and will initially use their company-owned
aircraft and crew. |

is getting ready to operate |
| During the next
few weeks, Aerolineas Sudamericanas
will introduce its new aircrafts
and domestic and international
routes to be covered, so the DGAC
can grant it the corresponding
Air Operator certificate and it

|
| The local government
is now charging a S/. 30 soles
entrance fee to access the Salkantay
snowcapped mountain. Most of the
collected money will be used in
the sustained implementation of
utilities for tourists who travel
down the Mollepata–Cruzpata–Soraypampa–Salkantaypampa–Abra
Salkantay path everyday. |
| US$ 4 million
will be invested in two hotels
in Puno |
| The San Agustin
Hotel Chain will invest between
US$ 3.5 million and US$ 4 million
in the construction of two ecological
hotels. One of them will be a
top three-star hotel and the other
will be a four-star one. They
will be located around Lake Titicaca,
and will be finished by the end
of 2009 or beginning of 2010.
The four-star hotel will have
120 rooms and its own dock. During
the construction, materials such
as clay and mud from the high
Andean zones will be use. |

will increase 14 weekly frequencies
|
| American Airlines
informed that as of December 13th,
14 new weekly flights will be
added to its current flights between
Miami and Colombia. The new weekly
flights include 7 flights between
Miami and Barranquilla, 3 between
Miami and Medellin, and 4 between
Miami and Bogota. |
| Intercontinental
will operate the San Martín
Plaza Hotel in Cartagena |
| Executive officers
from the San Martin Plaza Project
in Cartagena entered into an agreement
with the IHG Intercontinental
Hotels Group chain for the management
of the hotel complex under the
Holiday Inn brand. The hotel chain
was the awardee of the contract
after a research was conducted
on the domestic market needs,
especially those of Cartagena. |

| Iberia
has ten new weekly flights starting
June |
| Starting June
1st, Iberia will offer ten weekly
flights between Spain and Central
America, against the seven which
it currently operates. This increase
in the number of flights corresponds
to the growing demand in these
routes, for direct flights from
Madrid to Guatemala, Panama, San
Jose de Costa Rica, as well as
for connections with the rest
of Europe and Central America.

| The Minister of
Tourism informed that Aeromexico
and Spirit Airlines will start
to fly to Honduras in June and
July. Aeromexico confirmed the
beginning of operations in Honduras
starting June 5, flying three
times a week between Mexico DF
and San Pedro Sula. Spirit Airlines
will fly between Ft. Lauderdale
and San Pedro Sula three times
a week. Spirit Airlines plans
to increase its flights to San
Pedro Sula on a rate of one per
day starting December. |

new route |
| Last week, TACA’s
inaugural flight marked the beginning
of its new route San Jose / Santo
Domingo. Starting July 15th, the
airline will add three weekly
frequencies from San Jose to Santo
Domingo to complete a total of
seven flights per week. |

of Honor in ITB |
| The Ambassador
of Germany in the Dominican Republic
announced that this country will
be the Guest of Honor Nation in
the great International Tourism
Stock Exchange of Berlin, which
will be held from March 5th to
the 8th of next year in Berlin. |
| Air rates increased
by 60 % |
| Starting June,
an US$ 8 fee will be charged for
the arrival to and departure from
the Dominican Republic in charter
flights as well as in regular
flights. This fee will be used
for the promotion of the country’s
tourist image, the promotion of
tourist destinations internationally
and for funds of the Tourist Area
Infrastructure Executing Committee.
The US$ 3 rise is equivalent to
60% in relative terms. |

in Guadalajara |
| US$ 12 million
will be invested in the construction
of two Holiday Inn Express hotels
in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara.
It is expected that these hotels
will be built and operating between

between Cuba and the Dominican
Republic increase |
| Cubana de Aviacion
announced in Santo Domingo a third
weekly flight frequency between
La Habana and Santo Domingo starting
July 3rd. At present, the route
is covered by IL-62 aircrafts
and starting September 1st the
modern TU-204-300 will be incorporated. |
| Rutas y Andares
Project |
| The Rutas y Andares
Project, which combines trips
to Havana’s historical downtown
with theater, music and dance
proposals, will be introduced
in Havana during the next Latin
American Meeting of Museums and
Historical Centers. The meeting,
which will be held from May 22nd
to 25th, will include in its program
a discussion with the persons
responsible for this idea. |
