Iguazu Falls: more attractive than usual
The Iguazu Falls are more attractive than usual due to an increase in water flow in the Iguazu River, becoming an amazing show for tourists. Likewise, the color of water has changed due to eroded sediment.
Copa will fly to Cordoba in August
Although in principle, the start of operations of the Panamanian airlines to Cordoba was planned for December, there are several versions that state the arrival of the airline will be brought forward on August 16th. There would be four weekly frequencies operated with Boeing 737/700 aircrafts.
New passenger terminal built in Carrasco
The International Airport of Carrasco will build a modern Passenger Terminal with an investment of US$ 134 million. Along with the new Terminal a platform for aircrafts will be built in order to embark and disembark passengers through telescopic aerobridges that will be directly connected to the building.
American will increase flights to Montevideo
The office of American Airlines in Buenos Aires confirmed that, starting from July, the airline will have daily flights between Montevideo and Miami with three weekly direct operations and four via Buenos Aires. Likewise, starting in mid-November, five operations will become non-stop between Montevideo and Miami, while the two remaining will be carried out via Buenos Aires.
MITM Latin America 2007
The VIII MITM Latin America, Meetings and Incentive Trade Market, will be held in Salvador de Bahia, at Pestana Bahia hotel, from December 13th to 15th. MITM Latin America is the first tourism fair of the incentive and congress sector in Latin America and, now that LACIME will not bet held in Sao Paulo anymore, the MITM will be again the only MICE fair in Latin America. As it is an exhibition that promotes the whole region, the MITM changes venues yearly; although always in a Latin American country. It has been held in Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, Ecuador and now Brasil; the venue for 2008 will be Peru.
Orient Express acquired hotel located inside the National Park of Iguaçu
The Hotel das Cataratas, located inside the National Park of Iguaçu and that was operated by Tropical Hotels & Resorts of Brasil for 49 years, will be managed by Orient Express for a 20-year period, as a result of a bidding process. Orient Express, which already manages the Copacabana Palace in Brasil will invest US$ 25 million for the remodeling of facilities.
SuperClubs continues expanding in Latin America
SuperClubs revealed its plans for its new property in Sergipe, in the Brasilian northeast. The Starfish Santa Luzia will be located in the Santa Luzia Island, with an easy access through a bridge from the capital of the State, Aracaju. It will be inaugurated by the end of this year.
TAM will fly to Paris starting from August
Starting from August 9th, TAM will start weekly flights from Salvador to Paris. This flight will be an extension to the previous Sao Paulo - Paris flights.
GOL gives priority to routes of Varig to Europe and Mexico
The resumption of operations to Europe and Mexico will be the priority of the new controller of Varig, which discontinued last year a great number of domestic and international routes due to the bankruptcy process. GOL said that it entered into an agreement to rent aircrafts from Boeing which to perform these flights.
Air France – KLM will fly everyday to Paris
Air France–KLM announced the implementation of seven weekly direct flights from Santiago to Paris, starting from November. This is a result of the recent growth of Air France–KLM, which grew by 50% in 2006.
Spirit Airlines will fly to Lima from June 27th
Spirit Airlines informed that they will start operations to Peru on June 27th, and will cover the route Fort Lauderdale (Florida)-Lima on a daily basis. Previously, the airline had announced its interest to operate frequencies between Fort Lauderdale and Chiclayo.
Hoteldo.com in Cusco and Lima
In the last months, the most important hotel distribution network in Latin America, Hoteldo.com, added hotels in Cusco (Los Apus Hotel & Mirador, Picoaga Hotel, Best Western Los Andes) and in Lima (Garden Hotel, Hotel El Ducado, Hostal Porta).
Unesco says Galapagos receives too much tourism
The general director of Unesco praised the decision of President Correa to declare Galapagos Island at risk. Moreover, during a visit to Quito, he requested prompt actions in order to face some of the dangers that threaten the fragile system of the island.
TAME increases price of tickets to Galapagos
The increase in flight tariffs to Galapagos has come into force. This decision, adopted by TAME after five years of maintaining the price of passages frozen, “is the result of inflation and the rise of operating costs, such as airport rates, landing rights, lighting, aircraft parking and spare parts, that affect all the airlines of the country”, the company declared through a communiqué.

Copa Airlines will fly to Dominican Republic and USA
Copa Airlines recently announced the extension of its flights from Panama and its connection cities with routes to Punta Cana and Washington, starting from July 15.

The 3rd EXPOTUR will be held in Costa Rica from May 27th to June. This is the first Tourist Market of the region which promotes, since 1984, the tourist services and attractions of Costa Rica and Central America. Almost 260 travel vendors of the region will gather at this event in order to meet with representatives from international wholesalers from USA, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brasil and Argentina, among others.
Mexicana de Aviacion flies to Panama
Mexicana de Aviacion started to operate its new route Mexico-Panama with a frequency per week.
Aeromexico inaugurates new route
Aeromexico, announced that, on July 4th, it will inaugurate the daily non-stop flight between Seattle and Ciudad de Mexico. This flight will have a direct connection to Guadalajara. Carlos de Uriarte, Sales and Market Vice President of the USA and Canada division, said that Aeromexico will expand its service between USA and México.
Fourth destination of Delta Air Lines
Dominican Republic becomes the fourth most important destination of Delta Air Lines, with seven daily flights to the airports ‘Las Americas Doctor José Francisco Peña Gomez’, ‘Punta Cana’, ‘Puerto Plata’ and ‘Santiago’. On June 7th, Delta will operate a direct flight from Fort Lauderdale (Miami) to Santo Domingo.

The Keys of Cuba are the main attractions of the XXVII International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCUBA2007), which will be held from May 7th to 12th, and will gather professionals of the tourism sector and specialized journalists from more than 60 countries.
