TAM will unite Cordoba and Sao Paulo
Starting from March 29th, daily flights will unite Cordoba and Sao Paulo., The initial flights will use Fokker 100 aircrafts, with a capacity for 108 passengers. The flights will have a stopover at the airport of Ciudad del Este, in Paraguay to comply with bilateral norms.

LAN adds a new daily flight to Mendoza
Aerolineas Argentinas and Avianca entered into a complementation agreement. Among other benefits, the agreement will allow passengers arriving at any of the three weekly flights of Aerolineas Argentinas to Bogota to gain access to combinations operated by Avianca. LAN Argentina added a new frequency between the Metropolitan Airpark and the city of Mendoza. This incorporation will allow to cover the growing demand.

Aerolineas del Sur and Aerolineas Argentinas will start code-sharing
Starting from May 1st, Aerolineas del Sur and Aerolineas Argentinas will start code-sharing for the Buenos Aires - Santiago de Chile - Buenos Aires route. The goal of this agreement is to increase such route to six daily frequencies and to nine daily frequencies in the near future.

Avianca offers direct flights to Chile
Avianca and Air China entered into an agreement to make air connections between China and South America. The goal is to serve the increasing demand of tourists from the Asian country who travel abroad. Avianca offers four frequencies of direct weekly flights for the Bogota-Santiago de Chile-Bogota route. This way, the airline provides a unique product which unites Colombia’s capital city and Spain’s capital city.
Copa Airlines modernizes its call center
Copa Airlines extended and substantially modernized its call center. The 0-800-826-7200 hotline now works 24 hours, 365 days per year, and calls are free from anywhere in Venezuela.
 
Importance of agreement between Taca and Livingston remarked
The Minister of Tourism remarked the importance of the recent agreement entered into by Taca and Livingstone for the development of the sector. The agreement will be effective on May 20th with a weekly flight between Milan and San Salvador.
Holiday Inn will open another hotel
With an investment of US$ 17 millions, InterContinental will build the first Holiday Inn Express hotel, which will be inaugurated in June 2008. The 14-story hotel will have 104 rooms.
Air Dominicana will add a wide body aircraft in October 2008
After announcing that Air Dominicana will start to operate in April 2008, the Secretary of Tourism declared that in October of the same year the company will also add a wide body 767 aircraft. The airline is expected to start operations with a 737-800 aircraft, and in June, it will add another aircraft of the same type. Both aircrafts will be brand new, ready for leasing or renting.
Bahia Principe acquires Club Santa Ana Beach
The hotel chain Bahia Principe acquired the antique Club Santa Ana Beach hotel, located in La Romana. The facility will be marketed starting from November 1st of this year as Gran Bahia Principe La Romana. It will have 288 junior suites and 400 superior standard rooms. With this new acquisition, the group adds up 10 hotels in this country.
Government will call for tenders to construct the airport of the Mayan Riviera
The Mexican government will call for tenders to construct and operate a second airport in the Mayan Riviera, in the coast of the Caribbean, the deputy secretary of Transportations declared. The airport would be located in the Caribbean resort of Playa del Carmen, at the south of Cancun. The call for tenders is expected to be performed this year.
Tourists will not be able to stay at the top of Teotihuacan anymore
In order to prevent the deterioration of the pyramid of Teotihuacan, Mexican authorities will not allow visitors to stay for a long time at the top of the building. The director of the archeological zone pointed out that there will be a walking area on the top which will prevent people from staying for a long time, as it will speed up their visit. With this system, people coming behind will put pressure on those who are already on the top.
Mexicana will inaugurate flights between Culiacan and Los Angeles in April
Mexicana de Aviacion announced the inauguration of a flight between Culiacan (Sinaloa) and Los Angeles (California). The new operations will be carried out on Mondays and Fridays starting form April.
Intercontinental will open six hotels
In the next 10 months, InterContinental Hotels Group plans to implement six new hotels in Mexico under a franchise, which will imply an investment from third parties of approximately US$65 millions. The Senior Vice-President and General Director of IHG stated that the hotels will be one Holiday Inn in Agua Prieta, Tuxpan and Puebla, two Holiday Inn Express in Santa Catarina Monterrey and Pachuca, and one Presidente InterContinental in Puebla.
