Princess Cruises is planning its biggest deployment to date for the 2008-2009
The Pacific Princess, the Royal Princess and the Star Princess will run 21 departures on six different itineraries, including two new ones: a 12-day sailing on the Royal Princess between Fort Lauderdale and Guayaquil, Ecuador, which includes an optional cruise-tour to the Galapagos; and a 14-day Cape Horn sailing on the Star Princess between Rio de Janeiro and Santiago, Chile. The Pacific Princess will operate nine Amazon cruises, a record number for the line.
Accessible tourism for deaf people
Travel agencies would have appropriate personnel to attend to deaf people. Likewise, they would count with the support of companies in order to finance essential tools to improve communication or to improve new technologies in this area.
4th Ice Feast in El Calafate
On July 7th and 8th the 4th Ice Feast will be carried out in the Santa Cruz locality of El Calafate. This event is carried out every year when the Argentinean Lake is frozen.
Ski center in Villa La Angostura is renewed
Fiducia Holding, company which manages the ski center of Cerro Bayo, in Villa La Angostura, Neuquen, has been remodeled. The hill has 23 strips and, starting from this year, it will have a GPS system which will allow tracing the location of each visitor. There will also be Wi-Fi service for wireless connection to Internet from any computer.
500 spas will be built during this year
500 spas will be built this year, 300 of which will be built in Buenos Aires, most of them in four and five star hotels, with an investment of US$ 50 million in equipment. For the end of the year, there would be an offer of 1,400 facilities of different sizes.
Aerolineas Argentinas entered into an agreement with Delta
Aerolineas Argentinas and Delta Air Lines entered into an agreement by which each company will accept the tickets issued by the other company, so that passengers may use the services of any of them when one of the companies is not able to offer a certain schedule.
Agreement between Aerolineas Argentinas and El Al
The reciprocal agreement entered into by both companies is aimed at transporting passengers between Argentina and the State of Israel. Passengers will be able to travel by Aerolineas Argentinas to Roma or Madrid and then fly to Israel via El Al airline.
Lufthansa resumes non stop flights to Buenos Aires
Starting as from October 27th, Lufthansa will resume its non stop flights between Frankfurt and Buenos Aires. These will be served on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while on Tuesdays and Thursdays Lufthansa will continue operating with a stopover in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Tourism International Festival in Iguazu
From June 27th to 30th, and for second consecutive year, the InternationalTourism Festival will be carried out in Iguazu. This event will count with the participation of Mexican, Peruvian, Colombian, Venezuelan and American representatives, besides the committees from the Mercosur members which assisted in 2006.
Embraer entered into an agreement with JAL and Lufthansa for 40 jets
Embraer entered into an agreement with Lufthansa for 30 units of its passenger jet Regional 190 and a purchase order from Japan Airlines for 10 170 model aircrafts. The Japanese company also took options for another five 170 aircrafts, a model smaller than the 190 model.
Air China to Launch A330 on Beijing-Madrid-Sao Paulo Route
Chinese flag carrier Air China is to apply wide-body A330 on Beijing-Madrid-Sao Paulo route come into effect from June 17th 2007, aiming to bring maximum comfort and uplifting experience to passengers flying between China, Spain and South America.
VAT would not be charged to foreign visitors
In Chile, the exemption of VAT for the purchase of goods and services carried out by foreign tourists has been proposed. The arguments in favor of this measure aim at the promotion of tourism, the reactivation of the economical activity of Pymes devoted to the commercialization of tourist merchandising, the increase of currency capting and the struggle against tax evasion.

Lloyd Aereo Boliviano (LAB) workers demand financial help from the Government, in order that the air company may resume operations as soon as possible so that it does not lose the license on June 29th.

Inti Raymi with celebrities
As occurs every June 24, the Inti Raymi or Fiesta del Sol was carried out on last Sunday. This event is considered as the greatest, most spectacular and ostentatious feast of the Incas. The ceremony started in the Coricancha temple and ended in the Sacsayhuaman esplanade. Six hundred actors performed in the dramatization, one hundred more than last year. During these days Cusco was visited by celebrities such as the actress Cameron Diaz and the multimillionaire Bill Gates. The actress is filming a documental about Cusco for an American chain since some days ago, while the IT magnate is on a tourism visit.

Tame buys two Embraer-190 aircrafts

Tame confirmed the two purchase options for Embrear 190 aircrafts included in the contract. The delivery of the new aircrafts would be carried out at the end of the year, thus increasing the number of Brasilian aircrafts in the airline to five.

Opera and classical music in parks of Bogota

In order that the city of Bogota be able to have live classical music, the First Philharmonic Season in Parks, which will last until July 1st, starts. The Orchestra will visit seven parks in six of Bogota’s localities: Antonio Nariño, Los Martires, Engativa, Kennedy, Fontibon and Teusaquillo. The entrance is free.

Juan Valdez joined Avianca

Cafe de Colombia and Avianca signed a strategic alliance in order to promote and strengthen nationwide and abroad, its corresponding signs, pride of Colombia beyond its borders. In this sense, Juan Valdez, the character that represents more than 500,000 families that produce café, literally “got on” the Avianca aircrafts and will appear in the external fuselage of the same.

Avianca ordered 19 aircrafts from Airbus
Avianca ordered fourteen A320 aircrafts and five A330-200 aircrafts from the European consortium Airbus for long run flights for an amount of approximately US$ 1,800 million. With these, the total number of aircrafts ordered by the Colombian company to Airbus sums up to 57.
Taca will reduce air tariffs

Taca will reduce the cost of the air tariffs by between 20% and 65% in order to increase the flow of tourists in Central America. This campaign has a motto: "Live, fly, Central America is yours". Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and El Salvador are the destinations included in this new strategy.

Rumors about visas and vaccines for visitors are denied

The Minister of Tourism denied that the measure of reducing the duration of stay for tourists in the country to only 30 days has been taken. He also denied that the country is requesting vaccines for the entrance to the territory. Tourists can come to Panama for up to 90 days, with two extensions after the first 30 days, in both cases the visa or tourism card are requested.

Veneto Hotel & Casino will become Wyndham Gran Hotel

Silver Associate & Company group, new owner of the Panamanian Hotel Veneto Hotel & Casino, announced that it will be operated under the "Wyndham" franchise, which is present in the United States, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, England, Russia and other countries.

Health tourism is strengthened

The American company All American Homes RPC will build in Costa Rica a health tourism specialized hotel with an investment of US$34.5 million. The Ailanto Wellness Resort and Spa hotel will be located in the rural community of La Fortuna de Bagaces, on the shores of the Miravalles volcano, and plans to open at the end of 2008.

Mandarin Oriental will build a luxury resort
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group informed that it will manage a new and luxurious beach resort that will be named Residences at Playa Manzanillo, in Guanacaste, in the north of the country.
Confirms agreement to protect sites declared as world heritage

The Ministry of Tourism, the Mexican Council for Tourism Promotion and the foundations of the Alliance for the World Heritage, Expedia Inc., and the United Nations, renewed its association to promote and preserve the sites declared as world heritage in Mexico until 2012. In this sense, the letter of intent by which Mexico adheres as member of the Alliance for World Heritage was signed again.

Foreign investment in Mexico's Hotel Real Estate booms with a ten-time multiple
Foreign investment in Mexico's hotel real estate has boomed to achieve a 10-time multiple since 2000, as reported in a joint research initiative between Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels and Mexico's National Trust for Tourism Development (FONATUR). The total amount of foreign investment in Mexico totaled $640 million in 2006, representing an annual compound growth rate of 135%.
