Amerian Chain expands in Patagonia
The hotel chain Amerian will open nine facilities during the next two years. Among the confirmed inaugurations are three five star hotels in San Carlos of Bariloche, El Calafate and Ushuaia.
Cafe de los Angelitos opens again
The historical Cafe de Los Angelitos, in Rivadavia and Rincon, opens again as from today. At the beginning, it was called "Rivadavia" until a police captain from the zone renamed it as “Cafe de los Angelitos” (Little Angels’ Café) due to the dangerous personality of its regular customers. In 1919, two little plaster angels were placed in the facade of the chamfered corner, which were there until their collapse in 2000.
Blue Tree started operations
The Brazilian chain of hotels Blue Tree started its operations in Argentina through the official inauguration of the facilities located in Laprida 1900, in Recoleta, and San Martin 400, in San Carlos de Bariloche.

Sale of Pluna is already determined
The details for the transfer of Pluna to the private equity Leadgate, formed by German, Argentinean and American capitals, were finally determined. The 75% of the shares of this company will be sold and the buying company will grant US$ 15 million of capital and will invest US$ 152 million in the purchase of aircrafts. The remaining 25% will be held by the Uruguayan state.
MITM Latin America opened to exhibitors from North America and the Caribbean
GSAR Marketing, organizing company of the last 24 MITM International Conventions (Meetings & Incentive Travel Market) announces the expansion of MITM Latin America and exhibitors from USA, Canada and the Caribbean - before, only exhibitors from Central and South America were invited to exhibit -. It will be the eighth time the MITM convention, which will be called MITM Americas, is celebrated in Salvador de Bahia, in the Pestana Bahia Hotel between December 13 and 14.
President asks to vote for Christ the Redeemer in the “Seven Wonders” Competition
The Brazilian president, who visited the statute of Christ the Redeemer located in the Corcovado hill, asked Brazilians to vote for the statue as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World".
Continental will sell Gol tickets
Continental Airlines will sell Gol tickets. The agreement allows Continental to connect their clients with the 57 cities Gol serves in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Likewise, Continental’s clients will be able to connect the American airline network to that of Gol using an only ticket. The Brazilian airline will not sell tickets for Continental flights.
Gol and Delta confirm commercial alliance
Gol announced an agreement with Delta Air Lines for luggage transport and ticket transmission. The agreement will offer to the passengers of Delta connections, via Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, to the 58 destinations of Gol in Brasil and in other South American countries.
Lakes and Volcanoes Discover Workshop
The Fourth Discover Workshop will be carried out this year in Puerto Varas, from August 23rd to 25th. The Lakes, Rivers and Volcanoes Workshop is the greatest Receptive Tourism Round of Chile. There have been already three Workshops in the cities of Puerto Varas, Valdivia and Pucon, in 2004, 2005 and 2006, respectively. These workshops have gathered, on average, 240 exhibitors and 65 of the most important operators of the country.
LAN VIP Room wins an award as the best of the region
The LAN Neruda VIP Room, in the international airport of Santiago de Chile, won a prize for being the best of Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the members of Priority Pass, the world’s greatest independent program for access to VIP rooms.
Cubana de Aviacion will resume Havana-Santiago direct flights
Cubana de Aviacion will resume direct flights between Havana and Santiago de Chile starting from January 2008, the Minister of Tourism informed.
Prepares to celebrate 40th anniversary of Che Guevara’s death

The Government of Bolivia will improve the tourist offer related to the 'Route of the Che', n the frame of the 40th anniversary  of the death of the Argentinean revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara (1928-1967), which will be in October, the vice minister of Tourism informed.

La Paz prepares to receive the Aymara New Year

The 5515 Aymara New Year will be received in the city of La Paz in La Cumbre, Valle de la Luna, semi-subterranean shrine of the stadium, and in the viewpoints of Sallaumani and Jacha Kollo. Cleaning works of these spaces will be carried out in preparation, besides improvements in the entrances.

 
Everything ready to celebrate Inti Raymi

The preparations for the Inti Raymi celebration, in the archeological complex of Saqsayhuaman, are ready. The act will be carried out on June 24th in the North Zone of the terrace of the historical site. Three galleries will be set up with a capacity for 4,435 tourists. The visitors who can not enter will be placed at the northeastern side of Chukipampa and in the Sector l, which is called La Cruz.

Cable railway to visit Kuelap will be built in 2008

After inaugurating the first works carried out in the archeological complex Kuelap, the Ministry of Tourism announced that for the first quarter of 2008 they plan to start the construction of the railway which will allow tourists to have quick access to the Archeological Complex.

Companies which fly over the Nazca Lines will be charged 

The National Institute of Culture stated that, starting from July, its branch in Ica will charge US$ 10 for each flight of the private companies which offer this service over the Nazca Lines and archeological centers of the zone. The measure was established in order to finance the preservation of tourist attraction.

Inaugurated the first stage of the new center of conventions of Guayaquil

Last week, the first stage of the new Convention Center of Guayaquil was inaugurated. The Convention Center is located in the old airport Simón Bolívar.

Sheraton will have a hotel in Cartagena

The Sheraton chain, in association with the Colombian operator GHL Hoteles and Amarilo Company will start to build a hotel in Cartagena, in the zone of Boca Grande. The construction is planned to start at the beginning of August. The hotel should be fully operational after 30 months.

Continental Airlines will daily fly from Cali to Houston

Continental Airlines informed that until September 9th, it will daily fly from the airport Alfonso Bonilla Aragon in Cali to the intercontinental airport George Bush of Houston. The airline increased the frequency of 4 weekly flights to 7 to attend the passenger demand in high season.

Central America Travel Market will strengthen the region as a multiple tourist destination

The IV Central American Travel Market will be carried out from October 11th to 13th in San Jose and is aimed at strengthening the Central American region as a multiple tourist destination. The fair will brig about negotiations between exhibitors and international tour operators thus promoting the commercial exchange between the Central American service providers and the European, Asian and South American tour operators.

Mexican sites among the 100 monuments of the world at risk

Zones from Chihuahua, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Jalisco, were included by the WMF, in the list of the 100 sites which are under risk in relation to their historical, archeological, religious and cultural value. The main threats are: the uncontrolled industrial and urban development, and for the first time, the harmful effects of the climate change.

Interjet will fly to USA and Central America

At the end of this year or at the beginning of 2008, Interjet would fly to Central America and United States as part of the second stage of its expansion plan. The destinations would be El Salvador, Costa Rica, Houston and Texas.

Copa will fly to Guadalajara 

Copa Airlines announced that it will offer a new service from Panama and its connection cities in Latin America to Guadalajara, starting from July 18th.
