Clouds Train will be working in October

As from October, the tourist trip of the Clouds Train will be resumed. The service was stopped several years ago. The railway, which passes by spectacular landscapes and which has become one of the most important tourist centers of the Argentinean northern region, will start working once the consumable products are received from abroad.

Argentinean version of Jerusalem attracts tourists

Each hour, at the same exact moment of the day, Jesus rises to heaven, whilst the religious music sounds high on the speakers hanging in the plaster cast palms. Promoted as “a trip through time, to know how the old Jerusalem was in Jesus’s times”, the park, located in the coastal zone of Buenos Aires, offers a religious experience along with a pleasurable trip through life in past times.

Pluna will fly to several Argentinean cities

The airline inaugurated its first new route since the Leadgate group assumed management, with the launching of a weekly new flight to Madrid. Pluna plans to fly to Bariloche, Mendoza, Rosario, Cordoba, El Calafate and Mar del Plata among other cities. Likewise, besides the fifteen aircraft expected to consolidate Montevideo as a regional distribution center, Pluna plans to incorporate four long range aircrafts and one cargo aircraft.

Pan de Azucar invests in total renewal

Pan de Azucar, in Rio de Janeiro, will receive an investment of R$ 6 million for the total renewal of its facade. The cable cars will receive an investment of more than € 3 million since they will have four new cabs which will be operating in October, for the 95 anniversary of this tourist attraction.

TAM will fly to Frankfurt and Madrid
TAM received the authorization from the NACA – National Agency of Civil Aviation – to fly three times per week to Frankfurt and seven times a week to Madrid. The airline will start to operate before the end of the year.
Tourist plan to strengthen economy of La Paz promoted

In order to strengthen the economy and to promote the tourist culture in the country, the Minister of Production and Microbusiness, Celinda Sosa, announced the bill of law for a tourist, communal, ecological, cultural, artisan, railway and lake Circuit and Complex of the Titicaca Lake, Guaqui and Tiwanaku.

Construction works for roadway that unites Potosi and Uyuni underway
With the presence of the President, the representative of the Andean Development Corporation and the Brasilian-Bolivian consortium OAS, which won the call for bidding called by the Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC – Bolivian Road Management Authority), the works for the Potosi–Uyuni road started.
Two tourist circuits within Machu Picchu will be promoted

“Machu Picchu Classic” and “Machu Picchu Complete” are two of the tourist circuits which are planned in order to improve the control of visits to the Inca sanctuary. The first circuit includes a guided visit through the northern zone of the sanctuary to the place where the classic “postcard photograph” can be taken. The second circuit includes the access to the religious zone, among others, in a more complete trip that visitors will enjoy.

Cotahuasi and Colca Canyons can be natural wonders
The beautiful landscapes, natural species and cultural expressions that Colca and Cotahuasi Canyons have, provide them with the necessary potential to be considered as Natural Wonders of the World. Both canyons have the necessary conditions to receive international awards. However, the Cotahuasi canyon has an advantage for being deeper and narrower.
BIT PERU 2007 was officially introduced
In Miraflores Park Hotel, the BIT Peru 2007 Luxury Collection & Incentives was introduced to the press and high management of some of the most important companies of the sector. The event will be held from September 17 to 18 in JW Marriott Hotel. Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises; JW Marriott Hotel Lima; Country Club Lima Hotel Mountain Lodges del Perú; Suites del Bosque; LAN; Aerolíneas Argentinas, Amadeus, participated in this events. The presentation of this event, which will be the first South American event aimed at promoting the luxury and incentives tourism in the region, had a speakers’ table with the following participants: Mrs. Lyda Garcia –PromPeru receptive tourism manager-, Jose Koechlin – President of the Peru Hotels Society– and Fernando Puga – President of AHORA Peru. The event was in charge of Eduardo Alt, director of TRAVEL UPDATE.

Urgent actions to save Galapagos Islands adopted

After the inclusion of Galapagos Islands in Unesco’s list of world heritage in danger, the Government of Ecuador adopted a first package of seven actions aimed at saving this natural park. This was announced by the deputy secretary of Natural Heritage of the Ministry of Coordination and Cultural and Natural Heritage. The deputy secretary and several ministers, such as the Minister of Tourism and officers of the Planning and Development National Secretary, gathered in Quito in order to define actions related to the problems of the Galapagos Islands.

Tame-Express offers new itineraries
By means of a strategic alliance between Tame and Saereo, the new service "Tame-Express" was introduced. This alliance will allow the provision of a better service and larger coverage for the different cities of Ecuador, offering flights to cities which had a low level of service or which did not have it.
XXVII Tourist Outlet – Anato 2008

The 27th Tourist Outlet– Anato 2008 –will take place on February 25, 26 and 27, 2008, in Bogota. The motto of the event will be “Where tourist businesses have no limits”.

Air Canada looks for one more flight from Bogota to Toronto
Air Canada announced that once the new fleet arrives, it will apply for a fourth frequency between Bogota and Toronto to the Civil Aeronautic National Agency. Likewise, they mentioned that there is great interest in destinations such as Medellin, Eje Cafetero, Amazonas, Santa Marta and the traditional cities of Cartagena and San Andres, for which it will be necessary to increase the frequencies.
AeroRepublica with new route to the coast
AeroRepublica inaugurated the route Cali-Santa Marta-Cali, with a direct flight three times per week. The new route will operate every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, with departures at 1:46 p.m. (Cali-Santa Marta) and arrivals in Santa Marta at 3:11 p.m.; with a return flight at 3:36 p.m. (Santa Marta-Cali), arriving in Cali at 5:01 p.m. The route complements the operative plan of the company in Cali.
Cultural tourism will be promoted

Classical music, dance or poetry, or a trip through the oldest and traditional bars of San Jose, are part of the cultural attractions Costa Rica wants to promote as a strategy to attract tourists who not only want to enjoy the nature of the country.

American will fly to Costa Rica and Dominican Republic from Fort Lauderdale
Starting from December 13th, American Airlines will start to fly daily to San Jose, Costa Rica, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, departing from Fort Lauderdale. Likewise, it will use larger aircrafts for flights between Fort Lauderdale and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Chichen Itza expects to duplicate its visitors in the next five years

The Mexican archaeological zone of Chichen Itza, of which its pyramid was declared 'new wonder' of humanity, expects to duplicate the number of visitors who will visit it in the next five years, according to the Mexican Council of Tourist Promotion.

AeroMexico inaugurates the new route to Guatemala
AeroMexico inaugurated operations in the route to Guatemala, with which it will cover three countries of Central America. The directive officers of the airline and the managers of Guatemala declared the arrival of the airline as "historical" because it is the first time in 73 years that AeroMexico arrives in this Central American country.
Laser unites Venezuela and Samana

El Catey airport, in Samana (Dominican Republic), will receive 24 charter flights coming from Venezuela between the months of July, August and September, declared the director of the Tourist Promotion Office in Venezuela, who also said that each of these flights will transport 116 passengers.

Casa de Campo chosen as one of the 10 best resorts of the Caribbean
In a special issue dedicated to the 2007 summer, the ‘Celebrated Living’ magazine chose Casa de Campo as one of the 10 best resorts of the Caribbean. In the same issue, its golf course was qualified among the 20 most important ones of the region. This magazine will be available, for several months, in the first class cabins of American Airlines.
