Buenos Aires consolidates as main tourist city
Recently, the specialized magazine Travel Leisure chose Buenos Aires as the best Latin American city and the seventh city in the world to spend vacations, while the publication Destinos y Convenciones chose Buenos Aires as the best foreign destination.
IX Festival Buenos Aires Tango
Until March 4th, the best tango dancers will perform in Buenos Aires. The Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Buenos Aires, will be a new opportunity to show the presence of tango in other musical genders such as rock, jazz and electronic music.

Restrictions to air services with the EU were eliminated
Paraguay entered into an agreement that will eliminate the restrictions to air services and will allow European companies to operate flights between the EU and Paraguay.
Pan de Azucar modifies schedule
From now on, Pan de Azucar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), in Rio de Janeiro, will open its ticket office from 8:00 hrs. to 19:50 hrs. This tourist attraction will be open until 21:00 hrs. The change of schedule is for an indefinite period of time.
New aircraft of TAM will cover important cities
Transporte Aereo Militar (TAM) increased its fleet with a versatile jet BAe with a capacity for 85 passengers. This aircraft will travel to La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, and Sucre, Tarija, Yacuiba, Cobija and other towns located in the Bolivian east. The air fares are economical in comparison with private airlines.
Increase in entrance tickets to Macchu Picchu ruled out
The Vice Minister of Tourism ruled out a possible increase in the entrance tickets to Macchu Picchu, after the announcement of the Regional President of Cuzco who proposed an increase from US$ 20 to US$ 100 for foreign tourists. The possible increase in the entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, if needed, would be applied from early 2008.
Handicraft workshops will be offered to tourists
Starting from March, the Educational Association of Artists and Musicians of Peru (AMP) will offer craftsmanship workshops for tourists. The aim is to promote a modality of experience-based tourism, where visitors will be able to participate in knitting, wood or ashlar carving workshops, as well as to work with leather and paint and produce their own handcrafted souvenirs.

VAT will be reimbursed to tourists
The reimbursement of the VAT (Value Added Tax) is one of the incentives included in the Law of Tourism that will be applied in Ecuador for purchases over US$ 50. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism, who declared that in case that a tourist filed a bill for values higher than US$ 50 in airports and borders, the VAT will be reimbursed to them.
Is recognized by American tourism magazine
The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute declared that the American tourism magazine “Outside” selected Nicaragua as the best trip in 2007, within the Bahamas, Mexico and Central America category. The American magazine chose Nicaragua among 30 tourist places of these countries. The report, entitled “The 30 greatest trips of all times“, will appear in the issue of March.
Taca with direct routes to the Dominican Republic
Taca will inaugurate several direct routes to the Dominican Republic starting from April 15th. The flights will be carried out four days per week in an Airbus 319 aircraft. The duration of the flight will be of two hours approximately.
Elan Resort & Spa will reopen on March 1st
The all inclusive hotel Elan Resort & Spa, in Cancun, will reopen on March 1st after having successfully finished a total remodeling of its facilities, which investment amounts US$ 15 million. The Elan Resort & Spa, former Club Las Velas, has 95 rooms, six restaurants, three bars, two private beaches, two pools, two tennis fields, a gym, steam baths, saunas and a Mayan-style spa.
Avolar will implement new international flights
Avolar announced that is planning to start international operations. Los Angeles and Phoenix are among its new international destinations, and Toluca, Hermosillo and Tijuana are among its domestic destinations.

The Mexican Group Indi and Magic Resorts inaugurated three hotels in the Mayan Riviera, the Magic Blue Boutique Hotel, the Magic Express and the Magic Sol, all of them are five-star category hotels.
Fiesta Inn Puebla inaugurated
The Mexican consortium Posadas Group recently inaugurated the Fiesta Inn Puebla. With this new hotel, the chain, aimed at business travelers and under the concept of Business Class, sums up 53 hotels nationwide. The Fiesta Inn Puebla has 123 rooms and five conference rooms for events.
Marriott opens two of the five new hotels planned for this year
Marriott International opened two new hotels, the Torreon Marriott Hotel and the Ixtapan de la Sal Marriott Hotel & Spa, increasing its offer in the country to twelve hotels. During this year, the chain expects to have 15 hotels, as it plans to open other three hotels in Mexico in 2007.
Air Europa will lead Air Dominicana
Air Europa will be in charge of the technical and commercial direction of Air Dominicana, a project promoted by the Presidency of the Dominican Republic with the participation of private capital, and which operations would start at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. For this, an initial investment of US$ 10 millions is estimated, together with a fleet of four aircrafts, two wide-cabin Boeing 767 for long lengths and two B 737-800 aircrafts for medium and short lengths. These routes will include the Caribbean, Latin America and subsequently the United States.
