Buenos Aires will be the venue of the 1st Latin American Congress of Hotel and Tourism Industry

The 1st Latin American Congress of Hotel and Tourism Industry will be held in Buenos Aires from August 15th to 17th. The conferences will deal with several topics related to the relevance of the hotel and tourism industry nowadays, and the expectations of the hotel sector in Argentina and other countries in Latin America.

Toll free number for tourist assistance
The Sub Secretariat of Tourism of the Government Office of Buenos Aires launched a toll free number for assistance to local and foreign tourists. The number will be 0800-999-2838 (BUETUR). The hotline provides assistance in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian and French and it is aimed at attending reports of abuse in commerce, robberies, crimes, thefts, losses and non-fulfillment of contracted services in the city. Calls can be made everyday from 9 hrs to 20 hrs from a land line or a public telephone.
LAN flies to Salta
Starting from March 26th, LAN Argentina will start to operate the route Buenos Aires-Salta with a daily flight. The airline announced the inclusion of a new Airbus A320 aircraft to its fleet.
Panoramic Hotel inaugurated in Iguazu
After concluding remodeling works, the Panoramic Hotel will be inaugurated on February 15th. The owners of the hotel, the Iguazu Grand Hotel Group (IGH), declared that the investment was over US$ 9 million. The five-star hotel has 91 rooms.
Wine Spectator Rarities Dinner at Park Hyatt
On February 20th, Duhau Restaurant & Vinoteca of Park Hyatt will carry out the first “Wine Spectator Rarities Dinner” of the “Masters of Food and Wine South America”, the most important gourmet event in Buenos Aires. LAN will have new flights from Santiago to Montevideo
Starting from March 24th, LAN Airlines will add two new flights between Montevideo and Santiago de Chile. Besides its regular operation, the airline adds a flight on Thursdays and another on Saturdays, which will be operated with Airbus 320 aircrafts, except on Sundays, where a modern Boeing 767/300ER aircraft will be used.
Archeological ruins of Iscanwaya restored
The archeological site of Iscanwaya, 325 kilometers away from La Paz, in the province of Muñecas, is being restored to show a pre-Inca citadel of the Mollo culture to the world. The director of Cultural Preservation and Heritage of the Prefecture of La Paz declared that during the first stage of the work the site will be cleaned up and weed will be taken away.
Representatives of the New 7 Wonders Foundation will give application certificate
Representatives of the New 7 Wonders Foundation will give Peruvian authorities the application certificate of the Inca citadel Machu Picchu for the contest The New 7 Wonders of Modern World at a visit scheduled between February 15th and 23rd. The visitors plan to travel to Cusco in order to take pictures and film the Inca citadel from an aerostatic globe.
Readers of Colombian newspaper El Tiempo consider Inca citadel as their favorite candidate
Machu Picchu was the most voted candidacy according to the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo. Of the 75,123 votes received, 7,936 (10.56%) were for Macchu Picchu, which is followed by the Great Wall of China, with 7,803 votes (10.39%), the Pyramids of Giza (Egypt), with 7,192 votes (9.57%) and the Taj Mahal (India) with 7,029 votos (9.36%).
Air Comet started to operate a new aircraft
Last Thursday, the Airbus A340 300 aircraft arrived from Madrid, in its inaugural flight to Lima. This aircraft which is the largest of the airline’s fleet, is already painted with the new colors and has the logo of the company. The aircraft has a capacity for 215 passengers in tourist class and 40 in A Class – the new business class of Air Comet – which has fully reclining seats.
Icaro will include price of tax in tickets
Icaro decided to include the price of the domestic departure tax and the airport security fee in the cost of the ticket in order to avoid any inconvenience to clients, declared the National Head of Airports of the airline.
Hotusa inaugurates its first hotel   Inac cancels Aeropostal flights to Barcelona
Hotusa inaugurated the Samanna de Margarita in Venezuela, a hotel with 14 standard rooms, two junior suites, eight large rooms “Garden Level” and a ”Paradise Suite” with three luxury rooms. The hotel has three conference halls for events, with an area between 100 and 225 mt2. The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics cancelled Aeropostal flights to Barcelona, due to frequent complaints from users. This route will be assigned to other airlines in order not to affect the continuity of the provided services.
Copa Airlines entered to Skyteam air alliance
Copa Airlines has been included in the international air alliance Skyteam, headed by Air France and Delta. Air Europa and Kenya Airways were also included in the alliance, which reaches 25 new destinations.
More Iberia flights to San Jose
Starting from June, travelers will have daily direct flights to Costa Rica via Madrid-San Jose and viceversa without stopovers in any Central American country.
32nd Tourist Street Market from March 25th to 28th
Around 1,500 companies will attend the 32nd Tourist Street Market, which will be held in Acapulco from March 25th to 28th. The event is one of the most important events in the Mexican tourism industry, similar to Fitur in Spain.

Mexicana de Aviacion received for the second time the Best Business Class award in Mexico and Latin America by World Travel Awards. Taca with direct flights to Havana
Since February 2nd, Taca started to fly without stopovers between San Jose de Costa Rica and the Cuban capital. These flights will replace those provided by Taca to El Salvador and will be carried out through an A-320 aircraft on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from San Jose de Costa Rica airport.
