Starting from March Air Europa will fly from Madrid to Buenos Aires

Starting from March, Air Europa will start to fly from Madrid to Buenos Aires, taking advantage of the summer season. The flights with which the airline will fly to this new destination are still unknown.

New hotel in Madryn
The Sheraton chain will invest US$ 30 million to build a five star hotel in Puerto Madryn, the Tourism Secretary of Chubut announced. He also assured that the works will start during the first four months of the year.

Pluna plans to increase its frequencies to Buenos Aires, at a rate of one flight per hour, and to operate new destinations in the region, such as Rosario, Cordoba and Brasilia. Aerosur will start operations from Santa Cruz to Santiago
The President of Aerosur confirmed that the documents needed to start flying three times per week between Santa Cruz and Santiago will be processed this week in the Aeronautic Direction of Chile. Aerosur will operate the route with two Boeing 737-200.
New frequency of Swiss between Chile and Europe
From July 13th, Swiss International Airlines will start to fly on a daily basis to Switzerland, thus consolidating the presence of the Lufthansa Group in the region.
Visa for American citizens will be in force from March   LAB and AeroSur will not be able to operate with charter flights
The Chancellor’s Office of Bolivia stated that the new decree demanding visa to American citizens who want to visit Bolivia as tourists will be in force from March. The regulation will be in force once the preparation of the regulation is finished and the Migration officials are trained. Beginning from March 1st, LAB and AeroSur will not be able to operate with aircrafts and crew hired from other companies since the government suspended those flights considered as charter or special. Both companies announced that they will rent aircrafts to incorporate them in their fleets, thus counteracting the measure to continue their operation in international routes.

Royal Nepal Airlines apologized for having used the image of Machu Picchu in a poster to promote their country. They also stated that so regrettably error has already been corrected and was limited only to its office in New Delhi, India. This was informed by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Indian group interested in building hotel in Cusco
The Indian group Tata, one of the most powerful business groups in India, is interested in joining the Peruvian hotel sector, either through a direct investment or through a joint venture. They plan to build a hotel in Cusco, the president of the Peru-India Chamber of Commerce informed.
VIP room inaugurated in airport
A new VIP room for passengers arriving to Quito was inaugurated in the Mariscal Sucre International Airport. The room was enlarged in 40% and has a capacity for 120 people. It is expected that it will receive around 5,500 people per month.

In order to promote El Salvador as a tourist destination in the category of congresses and conventions, the Mexican company Global Incentive and Meeting Management and the Salvadorian Ministry of Tourism are organizing the first Central American Showcase and Travel Expo El Salvador 2007, to be held in October. The fair is considered as the “starting signal” to “really take a stand as the capital of congresses and conventions in Central America”.
Airport for Copan   Lafise group will build hotel
The president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, announced that a new place was chosen to build the airport accessing the Copan Ruins’ archeological Mayan park. The president announced that the airport will be built in the area of the Council of Concepcion and that will have a landing strip of up to 1.8 kilometers. The Nicaraguan group Lafise will invest US$ 20 million to build a corporate center in the capital of Honduras, which will include a five-star hotel. The work will be ready within 16 months. It will have two twin buildings of 17 floors and four basements and will include, among other facilities, a five-star hotel.
Forum on tourism prepared
On January 26th, the 2nd Municipal Forum on Tourism will be carried out in Playa Del Carmen. This forum will discuss the future of the sector as an alternative for development in the Mayan Riviera and the perspective of this industry for the region. The objective is to know the results that Cancun and the Mayan Riviera are having as destinations, as well as to discuss the development of the Mayan Coast. It will also deal with the future development of these places with regards to the worldwide tourist competition.
Satena is authorized to fly to Aruba
The Aeronautics Department of Aruba authorized the Colombian airline Satena to initiate operations to the island with charter flights starting next Saturday. With the arrival of the new aircraft Embraer E 170 LR this market of the Caribbean will be attended. It is expected to attend between 50 and 76 passengers from Bogotá to Aruba per week.

Sol Melia opened its second hotel of the brand ME by Melia, after inaugurating in Madrid its first hotel, which revealed the new hotel concept that would have resulted from its strategic alliance with Hard Rock, annulled in August.
