  Tourist route from seaside to wine countryside
A tourist route will join Mendoza’s first wine producing area with northern Chilean beaches. The Tourist Route from Seaside to Wine Countryside promoted by the Chilean communities of Maipu and Papudo and by the Ministry of Economy of Mendoza has an extension of 382 kilometers. It will join Mendoza’s wine geography with northern Chile’s cultural heritage, beaches and gastronomy. Among other routes, visitors will have the chance to visit 26 wine cellars in addition to the highly attractive Chilean olive-producing proposal.
    Reopening of the Mar del Plata Aquarium
Four years after it was closed, Mar del Plata has recovered one of its most important attraction centers: the Mar de Plata Aquarium, a theme amusement park for the entire family. The new season offers fresh attractions: swimming underwater in a tank with 3-meter long sharks, as well as swimming underwater with more than 1,500 fish of twenty different breeds in specially conditioned tanks.
 
  Argentina’s National Parks Guide in Europe and Latin America
Argentina’s National Parks will count with a specialized guide that will be distributed in European and Latin American countries. This guide is a compilation of all Parks with information about ecosystems, fauna, flora, access roads, paths, services and maps of the place. The added value of the publication consists in a collection of anecdotes based on tourist experiences in the most remote places in Argentina.
    New bilingual cruise tourism magazine
Argentine Cruises, the first and only bilingual publication exclusively thought and made for tourists that arrive or leave Argentina on commercial cruises, was recently released.   Varig will leave the Star Alliance on January 31st
Star Alliance informed that the “old” Varig will no longer be part of the alliance. No information was given on the entry of the “new” Varig.
    Gol will not sell tickets that exceed the available number of seats
Gol agreed to maintain the policy of not selling tickets that exceed the number of available seats. Out of respect to its customers, Gol does not practice overbooking.
 
   
   
  Sky Airline will fly to Pucon
The airline informed that as of January 5th, it will fly directly from Santiago to Pucon in southern Chile. There will be two flights per week. Company passengers will be able to use the benefits of the Sky Plus program that offers significant discounts at the luxury hotel Villarrica Park Lake, located on the banks of the lake.
 
  Opening of Estelar Hotels
Starting today, the Estelar Hotel chain will offer its products and services in Chile.
Founded in 1968, Estelar Hotels is Colombia’s most prestigious hotel company. Its excellent service and the quality of its facilities are known worldwide. It counts with fourteen 4- and 5-star hotels in Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Tierra Bomba.
 

   
  Tourist departure tax rises to Bs 176
As of January 1st, the Impuesto a las Salidas al Exterior (ISAE) (Tourist Departure Tax) will be 176 bolivianos, which implies an increase of 7 bolivianos. The ISAE sticker sale shall be made exclusively at the National Taxing Service offices in airports throughout the country.
 


   
  Music Recitals at Cusco’s historical monuments
Yesterday, the series of daily music recitals began at different historical monuments in Cusco. The city will offer its visitors and locals a varied artistic cultural show that will delight and enlighten them on its vast artistic cultural heritage. Barroque music from Cusco, sacred music in Quechua, Gregorian chants and classical music as well as plays, folklore and other artistic expressions will be staged.     Gol will fly to Lima in the second quarter of 2007
Beginning the second quarter of the year, Gol will open the Santiago de Chile – Lima – Mexico route. At the end of last August, the airline company received authorization from its country’s ANAC (National Civil Aviation Association) to operate seven flights per week to Lima.
 
   
   
  Transit visa for Colombians in France
Starting today, Colombian citizens (except holders of visas valid for countries of the European Economic Space, Canada, the United States or Switzerland) shall require an airport transit visa when in transit at French airport international areas.
   
   
   
  Taca and Livingston will join Italy with El Salvador
Livingston and Taca reached an agreement to operate direct flights between Italy and El Salvador starting in May. This agreement will help increase the tourist flow between Europe and Central America. There will be a weekly direct flight between Milan and the airport of El Salvador. On its return flight to Italy, the plane will make a brief stopover in Cancun.
   
   
 
  Promotes ecological and adventure tourism
The Dominican Republic started a rehabilitation and construction program of domestic airfields in Jimani, Constanza, Pedernales, San Juan de la Maguana, Montecristi and La Cueva de las Maravillas (San Pedro de Macoris). The purpose is to promote ecological and adventure tourism among the nearly four million tourists that visit the Dominican Republic each year. The Dominican Republic is one of the few countries that have nine differentiated ecological areas.
   
  Globalia and Coral Hotels go into a partnership
The Coral and Globalia Hotels & Resorts chains announced a strategic alliance to add value to their tourist services in the Dominican Republic. Coral Hotels & Resorts has four beach hotels that operate under the “all inclusive” modality, as well as the Hilton Santo Domingo Hotel. Upon the subscription of this alliance, Globalia will immediately take over the management of the hotels Coral Hamaca in Boca Chica, Canoa in Bayahibe and Marien in Puerto Plata.
   
   
 
 
  New air links to Cayo Largo del Sur
Cubana de Aviacion will start operating special flights to Cayo Largo del Sur in January and February. In addition, the airline is promoting the sale of one- and two- week tourist packages with stays in Cayo Largo, Varadero and Havana.
