will inaugurate trips in January
2009 |
For the first
time, starting from January
2009, Carnival will operate
trips to South America which
will offer long visits to destinations
such as Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay,
Ecuador, Chile and Peru on board
of the new Carnival Splendor,
a ship with a weight of 113,300
tones. |

| A four-star hotel
will be added to the variety of
"Boca products". This
is the more recent marketing project
developed by the most popular
club of the country. The hotel
will have 80 rooms and will imply
and investment of US$ 10 million.
Three possibilities are being
studied as locations: San Telmo,
Recoleta and Microcentro. |

cinema building |
| NH purchased the
building where the traditional
Metro cinema was located. During
the following months, this place
will become its eleventh hotel.
It aims at transforming the building

The Brasilian
Minister of Defense announced
that the international airport
of Rio de Janeiro will connect
flights between Brasil and North
American and European countries.
This decision is included in
the new flights network introduced

| Pink Fleet is
a new nautical tourism attraction

| Brasilia Convention
& Visitors Bureau launches
the Service Guide 2007, with 152
pages of information about the
tourist infrastructure of the
city. The guide is issued in Portuguese
and English languages, and is
divided into five sections: a
service guide, a tourist guide,
a map, a section aimed at events
and an institutional video. This
is the second edition of this
guide. |
| GOL received Boeing
737–800 |
| GOL received its
71st aircraft –the fifth
of this year-, a Boeing 737–800
SFP (Short Field Performance).
This model was developed by Boeing
on request of GOL, to be used
in shorter landing strips such
as Santos Dumont airport’s
strips, in Rio de Janeiro, which
is one of the shortest ones in
the world (with a length of 1,323
meters). |

built in Aysen |
Rumbo Patagon,
a company specialized in the
development and sale of fly
fishing programs in the region
of Aysen, will built the Coyhaique
River Lodge. The construction
implies an investment of around
US$ 1.5 million, and it will
help to extend their service
as a tourist operator since
it will allow them offering
ecotourism programs, accommodation
services and food. |
| Termas de Puyehue
All Inclusive |
| Starting from
December 1, Termas de Puyehue
will change to All Inclusive service,
including food services and use
of the hotel facilities. In order
to carry out this change, a series
of structural modifications were
developed, with an investment
of around US$ 5 millions, within
a three stages plan which started
in April and will end in September.

plan will guarantee visits of
foreigners |
The government
launched the Tourist Security
System for foreign visitors,
in order to guarantee their
stay in the national territory
and to promote more economic
benefits. The Vice Minister
of Tourism, after demanding
a higher budget for tourist
promotion, declared that the
country has a great potential
in this sector, therefore it
should be accompanied by security
policies. |

| Three main streets
of the Historical Downtown of
Cusco will be changed into pedestrian
ways |
In order to
reduce environmental pollution,
the Provincial Municipality
of Cusco ordered to change three
main streets of the Historical
Downtown of the Imperial City
into pedestrian ways. This project
is aimed at avoiding the damages
occurred due to the high pressure
of car traffic and little earthquakes
that usually are not perceived,
but deteriorate the Inca, colonial
and Republican architectonical
heritage. |
| Five possible
candidates for World Wonders |
| The Huascaran
National Park (Ancash), the Manu
National Park (Madre de Dios),
The Historical Sanctuary of Machu
Picchu (Cusco), the National Reserve
of Titicaca (Puno) and the National
Reserve of Paracas (Ica) are the
five attractions proposed as natural
wonders of the world, due to the
enthusiasm produced by the election
of Machu Picchu as one of the
Contemporary Wonders of the World.
For that reason, the Government
is organizing a contest sponsored
by state and private institutions
where the seven more representative
natural areas will be elected.

will start to operate in October
|
| The Eco Inn will
start operations in Cusco during
the first half of October. This
is a four-star hotel which will
have 167 rooms, 5 floors, 3 yards,
meeting rooms, an oxygened room,
business center, shopping center
and the “Inca Tak Spa”. |
| Lan Peru landed
in Spain |
| Lan Peru started
its direct flights between Lima
and Madrid. It offers three weekly
flights, on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Sundays from Peru, and on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
from Spain. Flights are served
by Boeing 767 aircrafts, with
a capacity for 214 passengers.
With these flights, the airline
starts to fly to Europe. |

| Hilton Hotel changes
its name |
Starting from
August 31, Hilton Hotel will
be named Alba Caracas. From
this date, the Simon Bolivar
Center will start a promotion
and relaunching week of the
hotel, currently managed by
the Venezuelan state. 6 million
bolivares will be invested in
the remodeling of the hotel,
which will include a change
of linen and dinner services
with the name of Hilton hotel. |

Plaza Colon” was recently
inaugurated in the colonial
city of Granada, in Nicaragua.
This hotel is aimed at tourists

decoration, offer tourists the
opportunity to know the main
tourist attractions of Nicaragua
starting from the main city
at a historical level and especially

Guadalajara construction started

for the construction of the Hotel
Holiday Inn Express Guadalajara
started. The investment implies
US$ 12 million, and the hotel
will be located close to the Autonomous
University of Guadalajara (UAG)
campus. The hotel will have one
hundred rooms and five suites,
a gym and several rooms. |

In
a recent trip to Chile, among
other things, to revisit Santiago,
Puerto Mont and Puerto Varas
– where I hadn’t
gone more than 12 years ago
– and I traveled to Puerto
Natales and Torres del Paine
for the first time. I also visited
hotels, not only to see those
hotels recently remodeled, but
especially to know some of the
new businesses.
I was especially impressed
by two new hotels: the flamboyant
Melia Patagonia, in Puerto Varas,
and the brand new Remota, in
