| South American
Forest will be a sustainable tourist
destination |
In order to
transform the South American
Forest into a sustainable tourist
destination, the member countries
of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty
Organization announced in Quito
(Ecuador) that they are preparing
the project “2009: Destination
Amazonia Year”. The coordinator
of Infrastructure, Transport,
Communication and Tourism of
said organization pointed out
that this initiative aims at
promoting tourism in the region
with a clear sustainable vision.

to its readers, who choose a

inaugurates theme hotel |
| In a two-floor
old house built in 1895, with
oak flooring and original forge,
Complejo Tango will inaugurate
on September 1st the first Tango
theme hotel. This hotel will show
an environment with the 30s and
40s style, based on original and
unique details: old typing machines,
soda siphons, discs, scores, radios
and a large accordion. In order
to convey the sensation of old
Buenos Aires to visitors, its
eight rooms are aimed at recreating
the typical atmosphere of compadritos
and milongueros, with names such
as Fileteado Porteño, Gardel
or Piazzola. |

The Brasilian
government set measurements
to relieve the traffic of the
Congonhas airport, in Sao Paulo.
Thus, the number of daily flights
were reduced by 21% in a project
that looks for eliminating stopovers
in the terminal after the tragic
accident of TAM. |

The Minister
of Services, Public Works and
Housing informed that Bolivia
will enter into an open skies
policy in the framework of a
fair competition in the national
air market through the creation
of a new air company which will
start operations on December
18. |

will start with 5 aircrafts. |
| The new Bolivian
airline, completely state-owned,
will start operations in domestic
routes starting from December,
the Minister of Services, Public
Works and Housing informed. The
new company, which will start
with five Boeing 737 aircrafts
and an initial investment of US$
15 million, will also cover international
routes. Even though the name of
the new company will be “Aerolineas
Bolivianas (AB)”, it might
change. |

| Hand luggage restrictions
at Jorge Chavez airport |
Since last
week, the technical norm about
air security, issued by the
Civil Aeronautic General Direction,
which restricts the transport
of liquids, aerosols and gels
in hand luggage for international
flights is in force. This measure
will allow each passenger to
transport the abovementioned
products only if these are in
containers inside a 20 x 20
cm single transparent plastic
bag, with a capacity of 1 liter
and with a hermetic seal. |
| Museum of Lady
of Cao will be ready at the end
of the year |
| Before the end
of year, the museum for the exhibition
of Lady of Cao will be ready.
The Fundacion Wiesse’s commitment
(entity in charge of the research
project), is to create a special
climatized environment where the
“Lady of Tattoos”
will be exhibited. The museum
will also exhibit the collars,
nose pendants, earrings, crosiers
and other objects which were found
in the Lady of Cao’s tomb
and which would indicate that
she was a leading figure in politics
for the Moche culture. |
| Nazca lines will
be broadcasted in Japanese channel |
| Nippon Television
Network Corporation started to
prepare a documentary about the
enigmatic Lines of Nazca. A group
of journalists began to collect
information explaining the geometric
figures and the animal-shaped
drawings. Besides broadcasting
the documentary in Japan, the
goal is to make a Japanese boy’s
dream come true: he wants to draw
the lines. He said he will draw
the hummingbird in a similar area
of Japan. |

Hotel Inaugurated |

last Friday, the Holiday Inn Hotel
& Suite of Lima has become
the Crowne Plaza Lima Hotel. Thus,
the hotel formalizes its change
of brand to one of Intercontinental
Hotel Group and becomes a business
and corporate specialized hotel.
The Minister of Foreign Commerce
and Tourism, the president of
the Tourism Committee of the Congress,
and leaders from the business
and tourism sector were present

force in Quito |
Since last
week, users have to pay more
for the passenger departure
tax. The new cost is US$ 40.80.
For domestic departures, each
user will pay US$ 7.60. This
value will be included in air
tickets. |

Thanks to the
implementation of electronic
tickets in reservation systems
of interline agreements, now
it is possible for passengers
of American Airlines, Aeromexico,
Air Canada and Lan Group airlines
who travel by connections served
by the Colombian airline to
obtain the Avianca e-ticket.
Likewise, the e-ticket will
be available for Avianca passengers
who travel in these airlines. |

the hotel will be now a five-star
hotel, since this is one of the
requirements of the Sheraton chain

agreement with Aeromexico. During
the first stage, Copa will give

Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Culiacan,
Cancun, Guadalajara, Hermosillo,
Merida, Monterrey, Mazatlan,
Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos,
Tijuana, Villahermosa and Ixtapa
Zihuatanejo. On the other side,
Aeromexico will provide its
code to flights of Copa from
Panama to Mexico DF, Cancun
and Guadalajara. |

new international routes |
| AeroMexico will
inaugurate new routes to Central
America: San Pedro de Sula in
Honduras, Managua in Nicaragua
and its newest destination, Guatemala.
These new routes are added to
the recent flights offered to
Narita, Japan, and to Seattle,
United States. |

International Airport of Cozumel
started on the last week of July.
The objective is to introduce
